Pioneer DEH-P80MP - Radio / CD / MP3 player - Full-DIN - in-dash - 60 Watts x 4
From Pioneer

Design is the key aspect of the cutting-edge, trendy DEH-P80MP, a true head unit revolution with its high-tech, futuristic look. All features and functions - including the convenient Folder & File List Search for WMA and MP3 files - can be easily controlled with the new rotary commander. Users can turn it left or right or press it and access even more features joystick-style. The auditory impression of compressed audio files is drastically improved thanks to the BMX (Bitmetric Equalizer). The deep blue tones of the OEL play customized animations, which the user can update by simply inserting a CD-ROM. Aggressive sound abounds in the form of the super-charged MOSFET 60 W x 4 amplifier. And like other top Pioneer models, users benefit from CD-R/CD-RW, MP3, WMA, and WAV playback, a standard 10-key remote control and 3 Hi-Volt pre-outs for even more stunning in-car sound with separate amps and speakers.

The Story behind:
Pioneer DEH-P80MP (Sold as DEH-P1Y in India, and other Asian countries) is the one of the best CD/MP3 head units available from Pioneer. The reason behind it is simple. Pioneer did an open survey on their website, and asked for the feedback from loyal Pioneer customers about the car audio unit they want.

Majority of the people asked for:
1.Less buttons - So they removed all those 20 or so useless buttons, and added multifunction Jog-Dial (7-Way Rotary Commander).
2.More Power - So instead of industry average output of 50Ws, they increased it to 60Ws (each channel).
3.Unique looks - Now anyone who has seen this equipment will agree that it does look different from other head units.
4.iPod compatible - So they made it iPod ready. However, you need a Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod Adapter to connect your iPod.

I am using this unit for 2 years now. Yes, mine was one of the first cars in which this model was installed. I am quiet happy with its performance and ease of use. However, the only drawback is that sometimes the thicker CDs don't come out. You actually have to pull the CD with a tweezers. Also, the auto slide face sometimes gets jammed. I guess it's the software problem, cause you have to reset the unit in order for it to open. This also means that you will loose all your customized equalizer settings, and of course the date/time memory too. I liked the OEL Blue Display, which can be customized by downloading the software available at their website (you will find it on mine too :), with it's help you can add your pictures or text. Bitmetric Equalizer and EEQ just add the frills and improve sound quality to match your taste.

Overall it's an excellent unit. Worth each and every penny you spend on it. The sound quality is Pioneer's trade mark - Outstanding!

Great sound, but mechanically mediocre3
I was very happy with this unit for a good two years. It replaced the stock unit in my RSX and gave me great sound through my Bose speakers. However, after two years, the mechanical face flip started giving me problems. It would randomly get stuck and not flip down when I turned off my car, and there is no way to remove the face unless the motor pushes it down. I lived with this issue, but after a few more months, the jog dial knob broke off of the face. I'd say it has seen only moderate usage and no abuse, but the knob is made of cheap plastic. I am forced to use the remote now if I want to use the unit at all.

Review of Pioneer DEH-P80MP5
I purchased this head unit about 5 months ago. It looks great in my truck and has lots of power. Love the Full-DIN-indash look. Looks factory and the CD player sounds great. I highly recommend it.
