Good feature set for the price. Probably not as great as more expensive units.4
I purchased and installed this unit yesterday. It does do what it says: radio/CD/Bluetooth connection for phone and audio streaming. It does seem to do these things well, and pairing with my iPhone 3G (w/3.0 software) was easy enough. However, there are a few limitations/annoyances that you should be aware of:

1) Single-line display gives no input as to who is on the phone, or what is playing through streaming bluetooth audio. Not a problem for me, but numerous car stereos (all more expensive) will do that.

2) The microphone used for bluetooth calling is embedded in the unit. For me, this is a plus: the lack of external microphone makes my care look cleaner. For others, this may be a minus: the embedded microphone is probably less effective at picking up your voice than an external microphone would be. If you plan on talking through the phone a lot, you may want to spring for a more expensive unit that focuses on doing this task better.

3) There are a few minor user interface oddities/inconsistencies. However, every car stereo I've ever used has had its own way of doing things. This system is better than many (Pioneer!), and the buttons are nicely laid out and labeled.

4. This one bugs me to no end, though I suspect others are less annoyed: The car stereo beeps three very annoying times when you take your key out of the ignition, unless you remove your faceplate. This security/insanity feature can not be disabled. The beeps are annoying, but I'm truly annoyed that no reviews on Amazon or Crutchfield mention this. I guess I could have read the manual online first to look for this issue, but I didn't think of that.

5. With the unit paired to both my phone and my wife's phone, it is annoying to make the stereo change its attention from one phone to the other. This is, in part, an annoyance due to the way bluetooth settings are accessed on our iphones. However, it is annoying.

These are all minor issues (though those beeps do drive me crazy), and the unit does work well otherwise. I'm glad I bought it, and would happily buy it again for my purposes: radio, bluetooth audio streaming, bluetooth phone infrequent use. If you're planning on talking on the phone a lot, or if you want more bluetooth-related information from the stereo, you should probably look elsewhere.

Excellent Product5
This is an excellent inexpensive CD Player that has everything anyone would need. Functions are easily accessed and the blue tooth hands ready is very simple to use. This is definitely worth every penny.

My first Sony5
This deck is really a great deck for those looking to upgrade their CD deck and are not interested in a USB connection. The deck has all the feature that you could think of: bluetooth, sat and HD radio ready and an aux jack. For 150$ you will not find anything better. If your looking for a great deck with lots of features and don't care about USB this is the one for you.

excellent mp3 player5
I purchased this MP3 player for my 75 year old mother after I received one for Christmas. I deceided to get one for my mom because it is very easy to use, and unlike the IPOD shuffle, she can see the title of the song as it is playing. I would recommend this to anyone that is somewhat technologically challenged.

I like it.4
I really like this little player. I listen only to audio books and it is the only player I can make work for me. The books always load in proper order...I can pause it any time and pick up right where I left off. It is simple.....something I really appreciate. I have 3 of them. The problem is that I use it constantly and too soon, my computer stops recognizing it. Won't let me erase the old book to add a new one. That is why I have 3. I'm looking at a 4th already and the last 2 aren't even a year old. There is no tech support or any info to be found on them.

Great for the money4
I listen mostly to audio books and publications. I appreciate the 2 gigs on this player. For audio books that's more than enough space. You do have to recharge it from time to time and the first time it takes about 10 hours. But a charge lasts a long time.

The documentation is awful. It's not complete. And technical support does not answer email. They do not answer the phone. So, there is NO technical support.

You can't bookmark. I'd like to be able to bookmark and go to something else and return. But the scan works pretty well.

It all depends on what you want an mp3 player for. But if you want something that's dependable and you're willing to learn how to work it on your own, this is a great little player.

The off button is really the on button. And you have to put it to off (which is on) when you charge it. Then put it to on/which is off, to load it. But once you learn this, it's a snap.

A decent little player and certainly worth the small amount you pay for it. I use it as my second mp3 player so I didn't want to invest much.

Denon DND6000 Dual DJ CD Player
From Denon

The Denon DN-D6000 is the latest entry in Denons line of industry leading products for the professional DJ.

  • Amazon Sales Rank: #7384 in Musical Instruments
  • Brand: Denon
  • Dimensions: .0" h x .0" w x .0" l, 25.30 pounds

DN-D6000 is the "NEW STANDARD"5
I've owned my Denon DN-D6000 dual deck CD/MP3 player for about 6 months now, and I can do nothing but rave about it.

The build is top-quality and of only the sturdiest materials. The technology in these decks will not be surpassed for years to come. They feature digital coaxial connections to your mixer for richer, more robust sound as well as a special cable (not the typical round MIDI-like cable) that very securely connects the control unit to the player with a push-clip. The controls (push buttons) are firm yet precisely responsive and allow you to make quick adjustments to insure seamless mixing. The large jog wheel is a bit on the sensitive side... but I've honestly never heard anyone ever complain that their equipment was too darn good at doing EXACTLY what it was physically made to do (i.e., you can give the wheel too big of a nudge when making an adjustment and create yourself an instant train wreck.) These decks are slot loading -- no trays to worry about getting stuck, which makes for a much more dependable unit over time. From what I have read, these (Denon) decks are the only ones in the world that allow you to cue a song from the same CD (next track queuing... and the cross fade is user-adjustable). This deck also reads MP3 disks... a feature usually only available on competitor's highest trim players (Such as the Pioneer CDJ-1000 MKIII which costs HUNDREDS more than this deck and is only a single table top). Sampling and 4 effects are onboard and the firmware/software for the unit can be flashed/updated via CD-ROM. When playing an audio CD, you have 20 seconds of shock protection in case the CD player is jarred or moved (while dancing around in the DJ booth, for example). Shock protection varies with MP3 playback and is dependent upon whether the MP3 track is CBR or VBR. I'm thankfully unable to comment about service levels from the Denon Corporation and it's authorized agents because I haven't had the slightest problem.

I purchased mine for $679 plus $35 shipping -- so it's no wonder why I feel they are such an awesome value! (Actually, I would have probably gladly paid more!)

If you're considering buying a dual deck CD player look no further! The Denon name is synonymous with tag lines such as "Top Quality" and "Industry Standard" -- The DN-D6000 lives up to those and then some!

Enjoy your music with the freedom that comes from MP3 CD playback, extended battery life, and high-powered anti-skip technology. Panasonic's exclusive No-Skip technology helps prevent interruptions from jostling during active use. No Skip's unique construction uses rubber brushings to absorb shock, while an anti-skip mechanism and an anti-skip digital servo further prevent read errors. The SL-SX431C's heat-resistant, polycarbonate body makes it even better suited for outdoor use. Taking the player in the car? Use the supplied car kit to power the player and channel its audio through your vehicle's cassette deck.

Onboard D.sound technology comprises 4 components that work together to elevate your listening. A digital amplifier helps reduce distortion and produce crystal-clear sound, even at high listening levels. S-XBS and Digital Audio Gain Control help to improve bass response at high levels, while MP3 Re-master technology produces outstanding sound quality from compressed music files.

The player also offers HighMAT (High Performance Media Technology) level 1 compatibility. HighMAT standards provide a convenient way for you to create custom compilations of your digital music, and this player's compatibility will let you sort your HighMAT-generated audio files neatly into folders. This not only helps you keep your music files organized, it saves time when you're searching for a specific file.

Battery changes will be fewer and farther between thanks to Panasonic's PowerLast high-efficiency power system, which combines an efficient motor with low-load circuitry for playback time of up to 90 hours on 2 AA batteries (not included) during MP3 playback and up to 50 hours during standard CD play.

Very Good Product4
Well Well Well. You knew it would come to this. You're in your car, making a long trip, and you can't find a decent station. You only have a cassette player and for whatever reason don't want to or cant upgrade to an in-dash CD Player. You're tired of listening to those same old tapes you managed to find and/or make (who buys tapes or makes mix tapes any more?). And you realise you're going to need an audio solution to enrich your driving experience.

Enter the discman car kit. An elegant solution to an age-old problem. It's portable and useful for more other stuff too, like using for jogging or on a bus or plane ride, so it's a multi tasker. And it solves your little car audio situation quite nicely doesnt it? And this panasonic model is an excelent choice.

I bought this because I use my mom's car and it only has a tape player, and I cant (and wouldnt anyway) put a deck in her car. Why I chose this model is simple, a great deal. This player is very reasonabley priced, and you get the whole shebang - power adapter and cassette adapter included. Now that I've gotten to use it for a while I can tell you Im quite happy. It has surprisingly good audio quality, even with the tape adapter (make sure to turn the vol on the player itself all the way up to minimise noise). The skip protection is EXCELLENT. I've not once had a single skip. The player is also fairly responsive, and has a nice look to it as well.

In adition to CDs this player plays MP3s! You can fit about 8-12 hours of music in MP3 form per CD. That's one heck of a road mix. And you can always burn more CDs so there's no limit to storage like on other mp3 solutions. DId I mention CDRs are dirt cheap? Compare the cost of buying a pack of CDRs to buying a new flash memory stick... you get the idea. The MP3 playback is nice, although navigation can be a bit clumbsy and ID3 Tag info is not displayed. Also I sometimes feel as if it's not playing some songs for reasons unkown.

Another small complant is that despite the claim that this unit is backlit, I've yet to figure out how to get the backlit display to turn on! The kit includes a corded remote, with a clip. This is VERY handy, but sometimes can as much of a pain to find the little remote as to fumble with the main controls. Thankfully the clip makes this easier as I can clip the remote to my seatbelt. However, the remote is poorly designed. The play/pause, fwd and prv buttons are all together and tiny, and it's easy to hit the wrong button! They should have made a more obvious bump on the middle button to make it easier to use when not looking. I find this to be a real pain in the... neck.

Any way you look at it though, this is a great value, and gives great performance! All in all Im happy. I'll give it 5 stars even though panasonic should really redisign the remote (seriously people, I've almost gone off the road trying to skip tracks, that's not right lol) and possibly work a bit on the nuances of the MP3 functionality. Whether the backlight even exists is yet to be seen :)

No Skip is No Lie!5
Why I Recommend This MP3 CD player:

The No-Skip technology actually works! We drove through Louisiana on Interstate 10, one of the bumpiest, bounciest, rockiest patches of road. Our drinks spilled but the player stayed steady.

Nice price $$$. We bought this to save money. Why retrofit a base model SUV with a permanent CD player when you just use this?

The car kit was simple to install through our cassette deck.

The performance was up to par. On a marathon road trip with a back seat full of cranky kids, this machine was a lifesaver for both drivers and passengers.

Excellent hardware, literature could use some work5
I owned a Panasonic CD player for many years before it was stolen from my car. I was happy with its quality and went with the company again. Today I received the SL-SX431C, and so far I'm happy with it. I'm so happy I can store about ten CDs worth of music on one disc (since it can play MP3s of course). The features are pretty basic, but you can't beat the price for a reliable MP3 player like this. Not only does it have a car kit and decent earphones, my old AC adapter (which wasn't stolen) works with it (4.5V, 600 mA). My biggest complaint is that the instructions are practically nil. You have to just push a bunch of buttons to figure out how it works. Also, the 85 hour play time assumes very specific conditions, but I imagine it will still last quite long between battery changes. One great feature (esp when you have tons of music on a disc) is random play, repeat track, and repeat all. All things considered, I'm happy.

Sony Walkman: Good With Some Bumps4
I got this product for Christmas so long ago. Everything works properly and as it should. I can use the headphones for everything without the inside of my ear getting sore. One con is that if you don't set it down gently on a surface or bump it in any way, it will freeze. Other than that, Sony did a good job on designing this CD player.

wassup1
Tried to order but could not. Kinda wonder why you show something on your web page and it is not available. Wastes my time and you get this ornery note at no charge.

Amazing sound, amazing quality.5
These headphones are amazing. The sound quality is great, the headphones are surprisingly light, and the CD player works flawlessly. The speakers in the headphones sound like a 5-speaker surround sound Bose system in a regular room. Each aspect of the music, from classical to rock and roll, is enhanced to perfection. The headphones feel like they aren't even there after a song, and fit outstandingly with the contour of any head. Finally, this Bose package comes with a portable Bose CD player. It plays CDs and MP3s. If one plays an MP3 disc, the title and artist show on the easy to read, extra-large display. The CD player also has an easy set playlist that can be set up at any time.

Overall, this package from Bose is an outstanding buy.

Bose provides all you need for superb, personal music3
I've previously posted that these headphones are some of the best I've ever heard. A bit pricey, yes, but super-lightweight, and so lush in their fidelity that "bass boost" tricks aren't needed. With this set, Bose adds a CD player which on first glance is pretty pedestrian, not worth the extra $70 or so. The "Bose special" features are a large display that display artist, title, and CD title when opening a CD-R full of MP3s. (See the images I've uploaded, the display is that for the retailer demo disc.) A "Browser" feature lets you find other tracks to play, without interrupting the track currently playing. You can add tracks to "MyMix," a far simpler method of "program play," and YES you can do this while playing. Buttons are large and easy to press, "spin noise" is pretty quiet, and in all this is a nice player. Not as portable as others, but perhaps not as easily disposable.

If you're shopping for the headphones, consider finding this set for a few dollars more. Comes with a handy carrying bag and 5' extension. Does NOT come with a stereo phone/2.5mm plug converter, which is an oversight considering the base Triport 'Phones come with one (hence the 3-star rating).

Nice system for the money4
If you want a decent radio and cd stereo system for your teenager (with tape decks thrown in), for not a lot of money, this is a good bet.

Skip the store brands, and go up a notch, and you'll get a model like this one, sure to last, maybe even through the college years, and into the first apartment and real job.

For us, this item seemed a money-saver, and a real find, all in one.

Great Buy5
I was happy to find this CD-Cassette player because they are difficult to find with the cassette player. The shipping was a bit expensive but it came in a timely manner. Great Buy

Great sound and easy to set up 5
This is an excellent value. It was easy to set up for the first time and use. While it is described as a mini system, it does take up quite a bit of space. I would not describe it as a shelf-system, unless you have very large shelves -- it will not fit into a bookcase. It has a neat remote control, accepts 5 dvds and has a raduio and cassette player -- I still have a considerable collection of cassettes, so this is an attractive plus.

Great sporty CD player for those who like to get out...5
Well, I finally got my Philips CD Player and I'll give it 5 out of 5 stars...almost. It is somehow "different" product compared to other brands... but that's why it's better.

Most noticeable difference is that it's CD-Rewriteable compatible. There is only one sentence about this in the manual, stating that it will play all kind of audio disks, including CD-R and CD-RW. I was hoping for more information, for example explaining that CDRW disk must be finalized, etc.

Does it work? Well, it all depends on the quality of your CD-Recordable drive that you used to make those CDs. If you used older CD-R drive, most likely the CD will sound like a broken record or a century old tape. All the CDs I created using old CD-R drive did not sound right. They would not play in any other portable CD player at all, but Philips at least tried to play them, which is not a solution after all. The music would slow down or speed up constantly.

Now, all CDs that I recorded using rather newer 8x CD-R drive worked just fine. You could tell no difference from original CD. Those CDs would also play in any other CD portable player as well. So what's the big deal? I guess it plays CD-RW disks and other players can't. You record music on CDRW, finalize it, play it, then reformat the disk and record new music again... so you can reuse CDs... if that's how it works. It all depends on your CD-Recordable drive. You cannot play CD-RW in most home or car stereo CD players but here you supposedly can.

Well, besides that, the player looks cool, great colors, great case. It doesn't have that boring look like other regular portables and it's not as fancy as other sport players. It is rather thicker than other models but it is a sport CD player after all... they are like that.

It has a cool lock, it has rubber plugs in openings, splash proof, it recharges batteries, it's well made, it won't break right away. It plays only for 6 hours in Power Safe Mode with regular batteries, so get the Alkaline batteries for 18 hours playback. It will even recharge them for you.

Oh, and it has nice and comfortable headphones that will never come out, and oh, there is the sports pouch as well,a nice addition.

The sound is OK, but the 3 stage Dynamic Bass Boost creates a small recognizable noise for some music, about the same with other products for that price. I would love to have a remote and alkaline batteries included in the package, for whatever added cost.

So overall, it's almost perfect depending on your needs. Don't try to find it in stores, just get it online. I couldn't find it anywhere in NYC, so I got in on Amazon. I would highly recommended it to everyone, especially to those who like the sporty look and enjoy spending their time outdoors. Enjoy!

Skip, Skip, Skip1
This player skiped the first time that I went running with it. It comes with a running pouch so I figured it was the perfect player to go jogging with. It was not, so I am sending it back.

*Worked okay for 8 months ONLY3
I bought this player in Jan'01. My only complaints upon receiving it was, the sound and the in-ear BUD headphones. The sound is never loud even when it's turned to the maximum level, no matter what headphones you use. The headphones hurt my ears and died in June. Then, recently (August '01) I discovered that because the headphone jack moves, the sound goes in and out. BAD. For example--I have the CD player in my backpack, playing a CD and if the headphone plug moves, which it does, it interrupts the sound. At first I thought it was my headphones, but no its the machine. All in all I'm disappointed. Great look, handy handle loop, bad earphones, LOW SOUND, and wobbly headphone jack that kills sound. My advice, check out other machines first that is unless you like a machine that only works for 8 months.

I'm not real impressed with this system2
The overall sound is pretty weak with this system. I bought a smaller JBL ipod docking station that sounds so much better and it is half the size. There are not many sound adjustment options on this thing so you just have to deal with the sound that you get. Also, every time I put my ipod in it, it automatically goes to the "music" file and starts playing music. So if I set it up to play the Pandora app or a streaming podcast, it will automatically shut that down and go straight to the music folder again.

Great little player5
It was worth the wait. It has a great sound for its size, good radio reception, and it plays CDs. It really fills the room up with sound. I love it.

Disappointing!2
I have always respected the Panasonic name but found this product did not meet my expectations. The sound was weak and disappointing.

You get what you pay for - poor quality & lacking features1
I put this on my wishlist because I didn't want friends spending a lot of money, but I could use a CD player. It feels flimsy and cheap. It goes through batteries like crazy. There is no way to stop it at a particular location and re-start later at that same location. If you hit pause and are delayed coming back, the batteries are dead. The left side of the headset already stopped working (I've had it for about 1 1/2 months of minor use). I do not recommend this to anyone. It's very annoying.

works but cheap3
I bought this product so I could listen to CD's while in bed. When I got the CD out of the box and attempted to use it, I had to readjust the headphone jack several times to get the sound to work on both sides. The place to put in the batteries was cheap plastic and will break easily if mishandled. This product does work, but, you must handle with care for fear of breakage. I feel this product will at most last a year because it is made so cheaply. If you want a CD player then pay a little extra to get one that is made better.

One can do better1
I received two of the CD players beecause of a delay in shipping. I overpaid. The construction is barely there, the anti-skip protection is non-existent. On an enviromental standpoint the player EATS batteriers. You can do better.

What's in the Box Sony MEX-BT2600 CD Receiver, manual

Amazing quality and features at such a low price point!5
I bought this receiver for two key features: MP3 CD playback and Bluetooth connectivity. At $170 at BestBuy, I was a little worried that the Bluetooth feature would not be all that great. The microphone is on the unit itself, no special attachment like the higher end Pioneer ones have that clip onto the visor.

Well I had nothing to worry about because the Bluetooth feature works like a charm! While driving I tested it out both on the streets and on the freeway and the person on the other end could hear me just fine. They did say that you could tell it was like a speakerphone type sound, but it was very audible and understandable and much better than the MotoT305 and MOTO T505 I had tested out prior. The T505 had a lot of potential since it clips on the visor and has an FM transmitter, but it was a little cumbersome to use and my caller said the Sony receiver call sounded much better. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I love Sony5
For the price this Sony Reciever is top of the line. I bought mine a few months ago because I needed a new stereo for my Jeep and I was browsing around and saw this one. I love the fact that it has bluetooth and a built in mic for handsfree calling. Not to mention the fact that it plays seemless music with my iPhone with NO WIRES!!.

When a call comes in you definitly know it, and you just hit the main control button on the reciever to answer its that simple. If I'm playing wireless music it automatically switched over to the call and switches back when the call is over. If your phone can do voice dialing you can load that information into the reciever for voice calling your contacts.

Not to mention its an Xplod. I had one in my first vehicle and loved it, and I love this one. I put my Sony MEXBT2600 through a durablilty test by putting it in my 4x4 jeep wrangler and it really holds up to some punishment.

anyway i highly recommend this product.

Great product for the price and includes Bluetooth4
I got this item refurbished by Sony for about $62. So far, it works as expected. I have the LG VX8700 from Verizon and called up people using the Bluetooth. No one complained about the sound. I also tested the MP3 and WMA capability and it plays almost all my files including Chinese songs. Of course, the only problem is that it can't display unicode characters but I'm satified. By the way, you can detached the face plate but it doesn't include a case for it. I wish they would include it. Otherwise, it is a solid product.
