The 640C (Version 2) takes the very best of its forbear and includes a whole raft of improvements to add even greater refinement. Key to these are two Wolfson WM8740 24-bit/192kHz DACs (digital to analog converters) - where the previous model featured one.The unit also includes a high-specification toroidal transformer for extremely low distortion and excellent signal to noise ratio.These and many other technologies such as a completely separate power supply and upgraded audio filter and regulator stages, result in the delivery of a huge dynamic range and a wonderfully clear, clean sound.The 640C v2 sits on an acoustically damped chassis and features a solid aluminum front panel with ergonomically designed controls. Where most CD players at this price are constructed from plastic and skinned with metal, the 640C's all-metal construction offers incredible rigidity.The 640C's clear display is now dimmable via the new Azur navigator remote control. This too is superbly finished in aluminum and is perfectly weighted. It controls all the 640C's features and allows tracks to be accessed and programmed directly - all from the comfort of your armchair.All in all, it's hard to imagine a more accomplished CD player at this price point.
Well worth the Money. I purchase this unit 4 weeks ago. I got it and set it up in my system It work well at first but then soon the sound got thin sounding and a very flat sound stage. Then one day I lost the right channel. I called Audio Advisor then sent a new unit right away and also sent the shipping lable for me to send back the old unit. I took the new unit and set it up in a small system and let it burn in for 4 days. then move it into the larger system. It sounds great. the bottom end is tight but well pronounced. It is very much worth the money. It replaced a Califorina Audio unit that was 20 years old. It sound much better.
